Bereavement Care Support Programs

The Bereavement programs are open to all who live and work in Montgomery County. All the programs are free, except for the Six-week Support Groups. For these groups, there is a $25 non-refundable registration fee for community persons (who are not Montgomery Hospice family members.) Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so call and register early.

  • Forever Yours: A Valentine's Day Workshop
    A special workshop for widows, widowers and life partners who want to honor and remember their loved ones on Valentine's Day.

  • For Men Only: Picking up the Pieces Through Grieving
    For men grieving the death of a loved one. Led by male facilitators.

  • Beyond Words: Grief Expressions through Art
    There are times when words are not enough to express our grief. This two-session workshop seeks to allow creative ways of expressing and reflecting upon the grief experience and consider ways to remember the lives of our loved ones. No artistic skill is needed to participate. All materials will be provided.

  • Journaling and Grief Workshop Miniseries
    This offering is a two-session workshop that will focus on the use of journaling techniques as a way of addressing grief issues. No previous experience with journaling necessary. Participants need to plan on attending both sessions.

Six-week Support Groups

The Bereavement Groups are for anyone who lives or works in Montgomery County who is grieving the death of a loved one. The groups provide emotional support and encourage the sharing of personal experiences. Practical issues and concerns are discussed. Educational materials are provided.
Pre-registration is required.
Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so call and register early.
Groups are limited to 11 persons and they do fill up.
There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee for all community persons and no registration fee for Montgomery Hospice family members.
  • Afternoon Grief Support Group
    For anyone grieving the death of a loved one.
    • Tuesdays from 1:00-2:30 pm beginning January 17, 2012 for six weeks.

  • Loss of a Child Support Group
    For parents grieving the death of a child of any age.
    • Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00 pm beginning Tuesday, January 24, 2012 for six weeks.

  • Evening Grief Support Group
    For anyone grieving the death of a loved one.
    • Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 pm beginning Wednesday, January 25, 2012 for six weeks.

  • Parent Loss Support Group
    For adults who have experienced the death of one or both parents.
    • Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 pm beginning January 26, 2012 for six weeks.

  • Child, Adolescent and Teenager Grief Support Group
    For children (4 years old) through teens who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. PARENT/GUARDIAN GROUP meets at the same time.
    • Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 pm beginning March 21, 2012 for six weeks. (No meeting April 4th)
